SOUND EFFECTS STORY
[Click Here for an abbreviated version of this project.]

Using an entry-level DAW (GarageBand), an MP3 voice narration audio file, and a variety of SFX sources, you will create a brief audio story passage like that heard in a commercially available "audio books" (also referred to as "books on tape"). Your instructor may give you the option of working on this project alone or with a partner.

OBJECTIVE: Create "mood-setting" underscoring and appropriate sound effects to convey and/or heighten the drama of a brief narrative. Utilize previously learned features/tools of a DAW (digital audio workstation) such as audio editing, loop-based sequencing, and DSP plug-ins, as well as arranging principles such as "layering."

PREVIEW: "Foley" sound effects have been used since the days of radio and into the film era. Watch this video on "Foley" sound. (Alternative location for this vid if first link doesn't work.)
